The invitation
One day, held open, in the Oakland Hills
We have the honor of hosting Monla Khedrup Rinpoche for a single day of practice.
Join us for an intimate gathering with Rinpoche in the Oakland Hills on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 10am to 5pm Pacific Time. A day of teaching, practice, and enlivening discussion. Lunch will be provided.
Rinpoche travels extensively from his home in Bhutan, collaborating with scholars and practitioners worldwide to adapt the Buddha Dharma to modern contexts. That it brings him here, for a whole day with us, is a rare gift.
The gathering is intentionally intimate, and we trust that the right beings will be in the room. Come exactly as you are, whether you have practiced for decades or are simply following a call you cannot yet name.
Let us know you are coming. A few days after your offering comes through, we will send the address, parking, and everything else you will need.
What we are holding
The themes the day is gathered around
Practices that work on the heart directly, offered slowly, with time to actually do them. What compassion asks of us, what it loosens, and what becomes possible when it steadies into something we can return to.
A lineage carried for centuries, meeting the particular noise of now: the speed, the screens, the grief we read before breakfast. This is the work Rinpoche already does with scholars and practitioners worldwide.
These are the themes we are holding as hosts. Rinpoche will teach what the day asks for.
Our guest
Monla Khedrup Rinpoche Ugyen Tenzin Thinley Lhendup, known also as Khedrupchen Rinpoche, was recognized and enthroned as the fifth successive reincarnation of Kyabgon Khedrupchen Jigme Kundrol, a heart son of Rigzin Jigme Lingpa.
He travels extensively from his home in Bhutan, collaborating with scholars and practitioners worldwide to adapt the Buddha Dharma to modern contexts. He is a root lineage connection for Wisdom Beyond, and this November he travels with our cohort through Bhutan.
The Khedrup Foundation sustains Sangchen Ogyen Tsuklag Monastery in Samcholing village, Trongsa, Bhutan, whose twelve-hundred-year-old temple was consecrated by Guru Rinpoche. Its vision is to preserve the sacred teachings of the Buddha, nurture spiritual wisdom, and inspire the integration of human values rooted in Buddha Dharma. All proceeds from this day benefit the Foundation.
Rinpoche is a Tibetan title of deep respect for a teacher recognized for their realization. It means, roughly, precious one.
